S: Start with a smart question. I will create a question that reflects what I really want to know. It can be essential, probing and/or multifaceted. I’m not content with what or how, I want to know WHY or WHAT IF. I know I might have to revise my question as my research progresses. My question should be the basis of my thesis statement.
U: Use a variety of sources. I remember that information comes from print and human as well as electronic sources.
C: Conduct relevant research by using appropriate literacy and technical skills. I expand or narrow my searches, scan information, and verify sources to ensure appropriate content.
C: Compile relevant information from at least 3 reliable sources (triangulation). I found information that is current, credible, and pertinent.
E: Evaluate, interpret, analyze and apply the information to support my “smart” question/thesis statement. I have checked the project instructions to be sure I’m using the information in the correct format.
E: Ethically use the information in my final product. I paraphrase information, identify quotes, and cite my sources using MLA format.
D: Did I answer my question? I went back through the SUCCEED steps several times to ensure I supported my conclusion with sound research and created a clear presentation.
